Since it was founded, Department of Mathematics, but also much earlier through activities carried out by the Osijek Mathematical Society, has trying to win as good student as possible. For that purpose, various activities have been conducted, e.g.:

• Five years ago, in co-operation with the Osijek Mathematical Society, Department of Mathematics started to publish a professional journal "Osječki matematički list" (OML) intended for pupils, teachers and students, which is distributed to primary and secondary schools mostly free of charge;
  

• An association of former students, alumni and friends of the Department of Mathematics was established, with whom we try to maintain contact. They also receive the journal OML;
  

• Every Saturday throughout the last academic year Department's assistants organised preparations for mathematics competitions for the best secondary school pupils from the Osijek-Baranya County, the result of which is that the number of pupils from the Osijek-Baranya County invited to take part in competitions at the national level has increased twofold;
  

• Department of Mathematics participates in the organisation of competitions of primary and secondary schools at the level of the Osijek-Baranya County;
  

• Department of Mathematics participates in the organisation lectures at the Osijek winter school of mathematics intended for the best primary and secondary school pupils of the Osijek-Baranya County;
  

• Secondary school pupils from neighbouring places periodically visit the Department of Mathematics;
  

• Preparation and participation in the organisation of a regular University of Osijek festival are specially treated activities.
